This is an invitational event for people interested in civic affairs and the future of Vancouver. We’ll start with stand-up mingling for the first hour or so, then perhaps have a free-flowing discussion to share ideas and information, make some observations, ask some questions, articulate anything you want to say about issues you think need attention. We welcome comments and suggestions for the future of CityHallWatch as well. We might come up with one burning question to have in mind as a theme for the evening. Anyone wanting to stay past 9 pm is welcome to go out into the main bar and continue as long as they like.
MEDIA DEMOCRACY DAYS – Saturday, November 7!
While we are at it, we must also mention Media Democracy Day — Saturday, Nov 7, at the VPL downtown. CityHallWatch/MetroVanWatch will have a table at the Media Fair from 11 am to 5 pm, so please be sure to stop in and say hello if you go there.
Keynote address from Jesse Brown of Canadaland (12 noon) on investigative journalism and Canadian media. Panels include “Stop Spying on Us” (1:30 pm) “Beyond Fear & Great Hair: Shaping debate in #elxn42” (2:45 pm), and “Changing the Channel: News, Independent Media and Campaign 2015” (4 pm).
