READING SUGGESTIONS, REFERENCES

Cities for People, by Jan Gehl, Island Press, 2010.
This book elaborates on many of Gehl’s seminal ideas, examines some of the world’s cities that have improved over the last few decades, and states challenges for the future.

Adapting Buildings and Cities for Climate Change: A 21st Century Survival Guide, by Sue Roaf, Architectural Press, 2009.
An essential reference work for all involved in the design and management of cities in a rapidly changing climate, at a time when we can no longer rely on cheap fossil fuel energy. Unless building design is improved, climatic events such as storms, floods and heatwaves will increasingly damage buildings and cities, and the economies and societies that rely on them.

More suggestions welcome.
