The Heritage House Tour is 15 years strong this year, and the Vancouver Heritage Foundation celebrates 25 years. The tour opens beautifully restored and cared for heritage and character homes across the city.
The 2017 tour offers a diverse array of homes including a stunning First Shaughnessy home with some modern touches and a sustainably upgraded character home complete with a hive to help the local bee population. Visit Strathcona to see the completed renovation of Places That Matter site, the Walter and Mary Chan House, significant for it’s connection to SPOTA and the fight to save Strathcona from freeway development in the 1960s. Take a first look at the recent restoration of the principal rooms in B.T. Rogers’ dream home, Shannon, see inside the gatehouse, and the Italian garden. Shannon’s main rooms were restored to their 1930s glory using early photographs to select appropriate wallpaper, glass, paneling and plasterwork. There are many more wonderful homes to see on the 2017 tour.
