MEDIA RELEASE: LITTLE MOUNTAIN ANNIVERSARY CEREMONY – SATURDAY MORNING
On Saturday morning, April 8, at 10:30 AM, Community Advocates for Little Mountain (CALM) will hold a ceremony to mark the 10th anniversary of Provincial Liberal government action to push people out of their homes at Little Mountain Social Housing. Today, Little Mountain is a giant vacant lot.
CALM spokesperson David Chudnovsky commented, “224 units of social housing and a successful community were destroyed by the provincial government with the promise that they would be replaced. After 10 years, only 54 of those new replacement units have been built.”
Holborn, the development company that purchased the site, estimates it will be another decade before the project (which will be dominated by 1100 expensive condos) is completed – and even that is an optimistic estimate.
The ceremony, which will be creative and unusual (bring your camera) will take only a few minutes.
When: Saturday, April 8, 10:30 AM
Where: Corner of 37th Avenue and Ontario Street
