City Council & Park Board preview June 13-15: Mole Hill, Joyce Collingwood, Marpole-Oakridge, Playland, Fentanyl, Chinese Legacy, DTES, more

The week of June 13 has Park Board, Regular Council, Council Committee meetings, and a Public Hearing.

Below is our quick review of some highlights of the meeting agendas, some media links, and the excerpts of the agendas. In addition, the Urban Design Panel meets June 15 (no agenda as of 5 pm, June 10), the Development Permit Board for June 13 has been cancelled, and the Vancouver City Planning Commission meets next on June 22.

 

The PARK BOARD meeting starting at 7 pm on Monday, June 13, has two reports (Canuck Place Fundraising Event – Second Beach Pool; Celebration of Light Festival – Extension of Sunsetter Bistro Operating Hours at Sunset Beach) and two motions (Seeking Alternatives to Wading Pool Decommissioning, and Marpole-Oakridge Community Centre Renewal).

REGULAR COUNCIL meets from 9:30 am on Tuesday, June 14, 2016. Some of the key business of the meeting includes:

  • Playland Redevelopment Plan – Report- Search media for media coverage.
  • Joyce-Collingwood Station Precinct Plan and Related Rezonings – Report – This is a significant topic, with huge implications and much controversy for the neighbourhood. See website for Joyce Area Residents Association. Council will receive a presentation on this matter on June 14, but public speakers will address Council at the committee meeting the next day (June 15). A Public Hearing is also coming if the plan is passed.
  • Motion on “Increasing the Supply of Affordable Townhouses and Row Houses in the City of Vancouver” (by Councillor De Genova)
  • Motion to “Designate Mole Hill as a Heritage Conservation Area” (by Councillor Carr)

A PUBLIC HEARING will be held starting 6 pm on Tuesday, June 14, 2016. Topics are:
