Council preview Dec 1st: Torqued Chandelier, Inter-municipal business licence program, TPP and more

ChandelierVancouver City Council has very light agendas for the meetings scheduled during the first week of December.

The Regular Council meeting and the Planning Committee meetings will both be held on Tuesday, December 1, 2015.

The Regular Council meeting contains an agenda item to make a permanent Metro West Inter-Municipal Business Licence Program with nearby municipalities (Burnaby, Delta, New Westminster, Richmond and Surrey). This program has existed as a pilot project since October of 2013 and it allows businesses in the construction industry that operate over multiple municipalities to buy a single $250 licence. A motion on notice by Councillor DeGenova for a Mentorship Program for Millenials will also be considered.

The Planning Committee will look at approving a spinning chandelier below the Granville Bridge, just above the Pacific Avenue crossing. The staff report also recommends hanging lanterns for the laneway in the Telus Garden block (Robson / Richards / Seymour / W. Georgia). There will also be discussions on a motion on notice for Opposition to the Trans-Pacific Partnership Trade Agreement and the issue of increases in the Civic Theatres Rental Rates 2016-2017 will be examined.
