Park Board is fulfilling a promise to hold meetings in the community. A special engagement event to focus on recreational facilities and supporting people aged 55 and up will be held at the Marpole-Oakridge Communty Centre on Wednesday, October 28th. The event will be held between 6:30pm and 8:30pm, pre-registration is encouraged. This meeting will be less structured than a Park Board Committee meeting in order to provide more opportunities for participation and interaction from the public. Park Board used to have meetings in the past in communities around Vancouver, but this practice was suspended back in 2010.
It’s worth noting that the Marpole-Oakridge Community Centre is overdue for upgrades and the future of the present centre at 990 West 59th Avenue is clouded in uncertainty.
