The Open House for a proposed 23-storey tower at 1668 Davie Street is scheduled for Tuesday, October 20th. The event will be held between 6pm and 8:45pm at the Coast Plaza Hotel (1763 Comox Street). Additional details of the meeting are on the City’s development services webpage.
On September 14, 2015 we noted that there were no signs or notices available for this proposal (23-storey tower at Davie and Cardero: no signs, notification or details. DPB review in November). Since that time the drawings for the proposal have been posted on the City’s website (DE4194443). The Development Permit Board is still set to review this tower proposal on November 30, 2015.
The property at Cardero and Davie already contains a slab-form rectangular tower (Regency Park). This proposal is seeking to put a second tower on the same site, adjacent to (and west of) the existing London Drugs store. There are significant issues with the proposed tower separation, as it would be very poor urban design to add a second tower on the property (same block face and much too close to an existing tower at 1225 Cardero).
