2016 Budget Consultations at Renfrew, Britannia, Kerrisdale and Champlain Heights Community Centres (Oct 15-23), Online survey

Kerrisdale Community CentreThe City of Vancouver is holding a series of public consultations on the upcoming 2016 Budget. The City has booked the following venues for these upcoming consultation events:

Thursday, October 15 from 5pm-8pm: Renfrew Community Centre
Friday, October 16 from 2:30pm-6:30pm: Britannia Community Centre
Thursday, October 22 from 10:30am-5pm: Kerrisdale Community Centre
Friday, October 23 from 5pm-7pm: Champlain Heights Community Centre

In addition, an online survey will be live until October 25, 2015.

The City’s website hosts a 2016-2020 Budget Outlook document. More details are available on the Budget and Finances Webpage. An interesting question to pursue is how much detail can City Staff provide on the budget? How accountable are they about how the budget is spent?

The 2015 Budget totalled over $1.2 billion and included a 2.4% tax hike. Will the 2016 Budget contain tax similar hikes? Will there be a return to line item budgeting? Will the City cut any services? Stay tuned.
