Details about a design competition for the 800 block of Robson Street are now available on the VivaDesignComp.ca website. The competition timeline indicates that a Q&A session is planned for January 12th, early bird registration is by January 15th ($65) and the final registration deadline is by January 30, 2015 ($100). All submissions are due by February 13, 2015 and the contest is open to all.
The 800-block of Robson will be closed from the end of June until the beginning of September (Labour Day). This pedestrianized section of the street will contain a temporary public space installation (the contest winner). The design submissions will be shown for 10 days in March at the Museum of Vancouver prior to the selection of a winning entry on March 18th. Up to $40,000 will be provided to fund the installation and the design team will receive a $5,000 honourarium.
