The City of Vancouver today sent out a media release announcing the launch of “intensive” public consultation ahead of the 2015 budget, with the “Pop-Up City Hall outreach team” being dispatched to eight locations and dates. In fact, this effort is so intensive, one (Dunbar) was already completed yesterday before the public announcement, the second one had only 73 minutes left by the time the media advisory went out. If you would like to meet the “outreach team” please be sure to get over to one of the remaining opportunities, or go online. The online survey is open until January 7, 2015.

MEDIA ADVISORYCity of Vancouver launches extensive public consultation ahead of 2015 budgetThe City of Vancouver is currently asking residents to express their priorities for the City as well as give feedback on some of the services the City provides as part of a month-long effort to help inform the draft 2015 budget.
This represents the next stage in the City’s efforts to engage residents on the City’s operational and strategic priorities. Earlier this year, over 3,000 people participated in two rounds of public consultation helping to shape the City’s 2015-2018 Capital Plan which was approved by Council on October 1, 2014.
The 2015 budget consultation was launched November 28 and so far over 500 people have shared their views. As part of the consultation an online questionnaire has been launched and to promote and supplement this 3-1-1 will be asking random callers three key questions from the survey. The City’s Pop-Up City Hall outreach team will also be conducting intercept surveys with those same three questions at eight locations across the city:
1. Dunbar Community Centre – December 2nd 10am – 2pm
2. West End Community Centre – December 3rd 9am – 2pm
3. Trout Lake Community Centre – December 5th 9am – 2pm
4. Douglas Park Community Centre – December 6th 9am – 11am
5. Sunset Community Centre – December 6th 12pm – 3:30pm
6. Carnegie Community Centre – December 10th 9am – 2pm
7. Kensington Community Centre – December 11th 9am – 2pm
8. Kerrisdale Community Centre – December 13th 9am – 2pm
The online questionnaire covers both budget and service satisfaction questions and will be available to the public to complete until January 7, 2015. The survey can be found here: vancouver.ca/budget <http://vancouver.ca/your-government/budgets.aspx>
The feedback received will be used to help the draft 2015 Budget that will go to Council to be voted on in January.
