Should more towers be built outside of downtown Vancouver?

Here’s some food for thought: Should new highrise towers only be limited to the downtown core? Or should the tower form of development continue to be used in neighbourhoods across the City?

UBC Professor Patrick Condon spoke about the difference between ‘flat’ and ‘pointy’ cities at a recent forum in Grandview-Woodland. A number of European cities that are flat (spread density around) are more sustainable, have lower energy use and are more walkable than the North American counterparts cited by Condon:
