Dog lovers protest Park Board’s plans for Trout Lake. Fight to keep existing off leash dog area

Trout Lake Dog Area Park protestResidents turned out in large numbers to show their support for keeping the existing off leash dog area at Trout Lake. The Stand in support to keep the Trout Lake Off Leash Dog Area as it is event took place on Sunday, April 27th, between 1 and 2pm.

While dogs don’t vote, their owners most certainly do. This show of force of hundreds of residents is a reminder. Citizens have until April 30th to comment on the draft Master Plan for Trout Lake (John Hendry Park). Organizers of the event were very much opposed to the proposed relocation and to the reduction in size of the existing off leash dog area. Residents can also contact their Park Board Commissioners directly to communicate their concerns with the current Trout Lake plan.

There are also a number of other issues with the proposed plan, please see our previous post for details: Trout Lake Master Plan revealed. Raises ire of dog owners. Too timid? Online survey open until April 30th. 1. From October til April 90% of the people in the outdoor area of the park are people with their dogs.To make the off leash area so small defeats the purpose of a off leash area . An off leash area is so your dog can run and to do that they need space . This sounds like a money grab from the parks board to raise money by ticketing dog owners .
