Fire damage at 377 East Broadway in pictures

A major fire struck at 377 East Broadway late on the night of September 21st in the heart of Mount Pleasant just across from Kingsgate Mall. Witnesses said the fire was still burning at 2 in the morning, reports indicate that no one was hurt. Onlookers said the fire started somewhere on top of the grocery store on the site and spread from there. Power was cut to the area and neighbouring buildings were evacuated. The slideshow below shows the site as of 10am Saturday Sept 22nd. This is the third major fire in the last three years in the area and as such it raises serious concerns about fire safety in Vancouver. The cause of this fire is unknown. The full impact on businesses, employees and residents in the area is still to be determined.
