Trout Lake still closed as contamination spikes upwards, beach closure into second week

The only public beach in East Vancouver will remain closed for a second week due to a high level of contaminants in the water. The water quality reading released on Aug 2nd revealed a measurement of 255 coloforms / 100ml that is substantially higher than the reading of 220 for Trout Lake a week ago (200 is the maximum permitted value). For further information, please see an earlier post on this topic here. [Update Aug 31: a new water quality reading of 47 will allow the beach to stay open this week. The beach was reopened Aug 9th.
