The only public beach in East Vancouver will remain closed for a second week due to a high level of contaminants in the water. The water quality reading released on Aug 2nd revealed a measurement of 255 coloforms / 100ml that is substantially higher than the reading of 220 for Trout Lake a week ago (200 is the maximum permitted value). For further information, please see an earlier post on this topic here. [Update Aug 31: a new water quality reading of 47 will allow the beach to stay open this week. The beach was reopened Aug 9th. Check this link for updates to the weekly water quality measurements]
